Here is a recent article that we thought deserved some discussion.............
According to the NewsFactor Network, it seems as if the federal government wants to place regulations on the wireless industry. The main issue? Carriers and their abilities to provide "exclusive" phones.
What does that mean?
Simply put, it would mean that phones such as the Blackberry Storm or the iPhone would be available to all carriers, not just Verizon or AT&T.
Why?
Smaller carriers in the United States state that allowing the big 4 (AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile) the right to carry carrier exclusive phones only helps them get bigger, and hurts the little guy.
Although the issue has been raised, most say that nothing will happen this year. Rep. John Kerry, among others, recentlyl wrote a letter urging the FCC to investigate whether handset exclusivity would be better or worse for innovation.
What do you think?
