How many commercials have we seen or heard regarding rate plans and how everyone has the best and the lowest prices. All too often we believe what we hear on television, walk into the store, purchase our phones, and then........BOOM, $500 phone bill?
What happened? The guy said that we were going to pay this, but we are not paying that.
Well, we decided to give you a little help with this. A little legwork goes a long way, especially when it comes to wireless.
Now, there are some determining factors when choosing a carrier. What type of phone do you want? If it is the Pre, well, then Sprint is where you are going (for a while at least). iPhone lovers stick to AT&T, and Storm lovers stick to Verizon for their wireless needs.
In a comparison of rate plans, OneBridge actually found that Sprint has the lowest rates for families. The comparison was made based on the most popular plans for families, as well as features that most families get (text messaging).
For an average 1,500 minute plan, the numbers look like this:
Sprint $99.99
Verizon $119.99
AT&T $119.99
And, for a 3,000 minute plan, the numbers look like this:
Sprint $129.99
Verizon $159.99
AT&T $159.99
Although these rate plans are not available to everyone in the nation, they are available in most markets.
The last thing to remember when shopping for wireless is to mention your employer when you are in the store. Most wireless carriers have what is called EVP, or Employee Value Pricing/Purchasing Program. These agreements are in place with major employers that currently have their service with a carrier, and most of the time those discounts are passed down on an individual level as well.
It may not work for everyone, but it is worth asking about!!
